TYPICAL PRODUCTS

Italy is famous for its abundance of exceptional typical products ranging from cheeses, sausages, various olive oils, as well as corns and vegetables not to mention the diverse variety of meats.

The typical products are characterised by their geographical and historical routes as well as the quality of the original produce or its production technique. Every region is characterised by its handed down recipes and gastronomic specialities.

The system of the European description aims to protect and promote foodstuffs whereby Italy is probably in first place as many products have already qualified for DOP (Denominazione di Origine Protetta – protected indication of origin) and IGP (Indicazione Geografica Protetta – protected geographical origin).
