ANTEPRIMA EVENT TO PRESENT THE PROGRAMME OF THE MERANO WINEFESTIVAL & GOURMET 2009 IN NAPLES IN COLLABORATION WITH THE REGION CAMPANIA


On Friday 2nd October 2009 at 4.30 pm Gourmet's International from Meran presented an Exclusive Presentation of the Merano WineFestival & Gourmet in the Biblioteca Nazionale “Vittorio Emanuele III” in Palazzo Reale on the Piazza del Plebiscito 1 in Naples for the second time..

The press conference was opened by Mauro Giancaspro, the Director of the Biblioteca Nazionale, and moderated by journalist Dante Stefano Del Vecchio. A report from the Agricultural Minister of Campania Gianfranco Nappi followed and then the president of Gourmet’s International and the organiser of the Merano WineFestival & Gourmet, Helmuth Köcher took over and presented the various statistics and goals of this year’s festival, which is now one of the most famous in Italy and one of the most elegant in Europe. Helmuth Köcher also explained the programme and the individual stops on the EuroTour 2010 that this time will go outside the borders of Europe and will present the oenologic and gastronomic produce of Campania. Special guest at the press conference was Mimmo Di Raffaele head chef at the Hotel Caruso in Ravello.

Afterwards the producers from Campania chosen for the 18th Merano International WineFestival & Culinaria taking place on 7th – 9th November 2009 Calafè di Petrillo, Cantine Astroni, Cavalier Pepe, Donnachiara, Fattoria La Rivolta, Feudi di San Gregorio, Fratelli Arimei, Grotta Del Sole, Manimurci, Mastroberardino, Terre del Principe, Masseria Frattasi, Marisa Cuomo, Masseria Felicia, Pietro Micillo presented their produce for tasting on the terrace with a breathtaking view of Vesuvius and the harbour of Naples.

The collaboration with the Region of Campania has deepened over the last two years and thanks to the various stops on the EuroTour, the oenogastronomic delicacies of our country have been presented and tasted in many different foreign countries. The first class wines Aglianico and Fiano, Asprinio and Falangina as well as the buffalo mozzarella, the tasty sausages varieties and the apples Melannurca IGP are just a few of our specialities that are well loved all over the world. The number of producers taking part in the Merano International WineFestival & Culinaria has trebled, a sign that world wide interest in first class wines and gastronomic specialities of the region is increasing.
