Friuli-Venezia Giulia

In Friuli-Venezia Giulia approximately 1.750.000 hectolitres of wine are made from 19450 hectares of vines every year, and 68% of these are DOC wines. The wine growing tradition in this region goes back a long way and already in the 18th century a very special wine, the Picolit, was made for the aristocrats and the Pope. Nowadays only 500 hectolitres of this wine are produced.

Ramandolo DOCG

White wine made from the Verduzzo grape only grown in the community of Nimis in the province of Udine. 

Lison Pramaggiore DOC

Available as white wine, Tocai or Lison, Weißburgunder, Chardonnay, Grauburgunder, Riesling italico, Riesling, Sauvignon, Verduzzo, Verduzzo dolce, Rosé, Novello, Merlot, Malbech, Cabernet, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Refosco dal peduncolo rosso. Pinot bianco, Pinot grigio, Chardonnay and Riesling are also produced as Spumante (sparkling wine), whereas Verduzzo, Chardonnay and Pinot bianco are also produced as Frizzante (fizzy wine). The wines are produced in 11 communities in the province of Venice, 2 communities in the province of Treviso, and 6 communities in the province of Pordenone.

Friuli Latisana DOC

White wine, also Frizzante and Spumante, Rosé and red wine, also as Novello (new wine). Produced in the west of the low lying area in the province of Udine.

Friuli Isonzo or Isonzo del Friuli DOC

Friuli Isonzo without extra additions can be made from the following grapes and can be white, red or rosè wine: Cabernet, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malvasia, Moscato giallo, Moscato rosa, Pinot nero, Refosco dal peduncolo rosso, Riesling (from Riesling italico), Tocai friulano, Pinot bianco, Pinot grigio, Verduzzo friulano, Traminer aromatico, Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Franconia or Schioppettino; the exceptions are the aromatic wines.
Friuli Isonzo Vendemmia Tardiva is made with Tocai friulano, Sauvignon, Verduzzo friulano, Pinot bianco, or Chardonnay grapes. It is made in 21 communities of the province Görz

Friuli Grave DOC

Friuli Grave with the addition of Cabernet, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot nero, Refosco dal peduncolo rosso, Riesling (from Riesling renano), Tocai friulano, Pinot bianco, Pinot grigio, Verduzzo friulano, Traminer aromatico, Sauvignon or Chardonnay is only for wines which contain at least 90% of the said grape. ”Friuli Grave“ without any other additional description can be found as white, red or rosè wine. It is produced in the plains of the Tagliamento in in the provinces of Udine and Pordenone.

Friuli Aquileia DOC

„Friuli Aquileia“ with the addition of Cabernet, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Muller Thürgau, Refosco dal peduncolo rosso, Riesling (from Riesling renano), Tocai friulano, Pinot bianco, Pinot grigio, Verduzzo friulano, Gewürztraminer, Sauvignon, Chardonnay or Malvasia (from Malvasia istriana) is only used for wines which contain at least 90% of the said grape. It is produced in the 17 communities of the province of Udine, including Aquileia.

Colli Goriziano DOC

„Collio Goriziano“ or „Collio“ with the extra description of the grapes Chardonnay, Malvasia (from Istrian Malvasia grapes), Müller Thurgau, Picolit, Pinot banco, Pinot grigio, Ribolla or Ribolla gialla, Riesling (from Rhine Riesling grapes), Riesling italico, Sauvignon, Tocai friulano, Traminer aromatico, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot nero contain only the mentioned grapes and are produced on the hills to the east of the Judrio River and before the border.

Colli Orientali del Friuli DOC

Red or rosè wine “Colli Orientali“ del Friuli with the indication of the grapes Chardonnay, Malvasia (from Istrian Malvasia istriana), Picolit, Pinot bianco, Pinot grigio, Ribolla gialla, Riesling (from Rhine Riesling), Sauvignon, Tocai friulano, Traminer aromatico, Verduzzo friulano, Cabernet (from Cabernet Franc or Cabernet Sauvignon), Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pignolo, Pinot nero, Refosco dal peduncolo rosso, Schioppettino, Tazzelenghe and must contain at least 85% of these grapes. They are produced in the same named region of the province Udine.

Carso DOC

Red or white wine made from Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Terrano, Refosco, Cabernet, Sauvignon, Pinot grigio, Chardonnay, Malvasia, Traminer, Vitovska; produced in the 6 communities in the provinces of Görz and Triest
