18th Celebration of the MIWF
14.09.2009 - 18th Celebration of the Merano International WineFestival & Culinaria
From 6th to 9th November 2009 all wine lovers and passionate gourmets are invited to celebrate the 18th birthday of the Merano International WineFestival & Culinaria in the beautiful Meran Kurhaus in the centre of the town.
The 18th Merano International WineFestival & Culinaria starts this year on 6th November with the 5th edition of the bio&dynamica, where 55 certified producers from Italy and other countries will present their produce for the first time in the beautiful Pavillon des Fleurs in the Kurhaus. This shows how important organic and biodynamic produced wines have become, and how the uniqueness of where they are grown has an effect on their bouquet.
From 7th to 9th November the world wide renowned Merano International WineFestival & Culinaria will take place in the Kurhaus where specially chosen producers from the most famous wine growing areas of Italy and all over the world will exhibit their produce.
320 producers from Italy will personally present their products at the events Centum (100 producers), Italia Excellentis (157 producers), Extremis (19 producers), Dulcis (13 producers), Vini Futuri (25 producers) and Consortium (7 cooperatives).
At the International Top Selection 148 international producers will present their excellent produce directly or through importers and these 31 producers from the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux, 24 from the VDP Riesling from Germany and 12 Champagne producers.
The event Culinaria is dedicated to the Italian gastronomy and has excellent culinary specialities for tasting. 112 producers will present their coffee, chocolate, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, cheese, sausages, pasta, rice, sauces and jams for tasting. At the event Aquavitae & Liquores 11 producers will present their first class distillates and liqueurs.
From 7th to 9th November the event CookingXWine will take place in the GourmetArena on the Thermenplatz with names such as the well known journalist and gastronomist Luigi Cremona, famous head chefs such as Philippe Leveillé from Restaurant Miramonti l’altro in Costorio di Concesio (BS) or Francesco Bracali from Restaurant Bracali in Massa Marittima (GR). Beer fans will also be pleased as this year, for the first time, the event Beer Passion, with the presentation and tasting of home made beers, will open its doors.
