08.11.2009: PRIZE GIVING MERANO WINE FESTIVAL & GOURMET INTERNATIONAL 2009

The programme of the Merano WineFestival & Gourmet 2009 included events at which prizes were awarded.

The Premio Godio 2009 was awarded to the nineteen year old chef Elias Schwienbacher from Restaurant Ahrnstein in St. Gertrud on 17th October 2009 on the Schwemmalm in Ultental.

During the opening ceremony on Friday 6th November, the president Helmuth Köcher presented Roberto Cipresso, world famous Italian oenologist and Enrico Derflingher ambassador of the Italian cuisine with the Special Award 2009.

On Saturday 7th November at 6 pm in the Stadttheater from Meran, the best dry and the best sweet Riesling wines were presented with their awards.
Best dry Riesling:
Riesling 2008 Birkweiler Kastanienbusch GG, Weingut Ökonomierat Rebholz.
Best sweet Riesling:
2007 Riesling Kanzemer, Altenberg Trockenbeerenausleese, Weingut von Othergraven.
On Saturday the Riesling Gold Prize was awarded to the Meraner Kellerei, Eisacktaler Kellerei, Landesweingut Laimburg and the Köfererhof as part of the national Riesling competition in Naturns.

On Sunday 8th November at 6 pm the president of Gourmet’s International Helmuth Köcher presented the prize Terroir 2009 – Merano Wine & Culinaria Award to 17 Italian wines (white, red and sweet- divided into 5 zones) and to 2 different sparkling wines (Metodo Classico and Metodo Charmat) in the Hotel Therme.

The Kunsthaus Meran award Premio Cristal was not presented this year. It will be presented every second year.
