The programme of the 18th Merano International WineFestival & Culinaria includes a vast number of interesting presentations and tastings that are taking place in the Hotel Therme on the Thermenplatz and in the Stadttheater Puccini at the Theaterplatz, just a few minutes walk away from the Kurhaus
On Saturday 7th November at 10.30 in the Stadttheater Puccini is the presentation of the wine guide Guida ViniBuoni d’Italia 2010 from the Touring Club Italiano followed by the presentation of the prizes for the wine labels, the awarding of the Corone and the presentation of the Premio Michele d’Innella.
At 12 o’clock in the Hotel Therme is the presentation of the Sicilian Nature Parks Nebrodi and Alcantara, where specialities of the region such as tasty honey from the Alcantara Valley, the well known Provola of Nebrodi, the black pork meat and the exquisite Rosolio liqueur will be able to be tasted.
At 3 pm the vertical tasting of the „extraordinary longevity of the Riesling – untraceable vintages after 1959” will take place with Gian Luca Mazzella. Booking necessary.
At 5 pm Aurora Endrici will lead you through a vertical tasting of the Gran Masetto Endrizzi, the most famous autochthon grape variety in the Province of Trento, vintages 2004-2005-2006, and through a highly interesting Teroldego tasting.
At 6 pm in the Stadttheater Puccini the award for the best dry and sweet Riesling 2008 will be presented by Gian Luca Mazzella followed by the Riesling Gold Award for the best Riesling from the national competition held in Naturns and the presentation of the wine guide Guida ai Migliori Vini d’Italia 2010 by D’Agata & Comparini.
On Sunday 8th November at 3 pm in the Hotel Therme CERVIM will present the event „With your skis to the Winery” including wine tasting.
At 5 pm the president of the MIWF Helmuth Köcher will present the programme of the Euro/WorldTour 2010, whereby Mariagrazia Biancospino from the South African company CCI will talk about a possible collaboration with the MIWF in the future. At 6 pm the Terroir Prize 2009 will be presented as part of the Merano Wine & Culinaria Award. This prize is awarded to the 17 Italian wines that best present the typical features of their region. The country is slit into north east, north west, central, south and islands.
Rare wines can be tasted in the Terlaner Winery on Sunday 8th November at 10 am. These include the Weißburgunder 1959-2009 and the Nova Domus 1999-2009.
