Helmuth Koecher was born in Meran in the 1959 and, after finishing his degree in Political Science in Innsbruck, discovers in the year 1989, during one of his travels, the Bordeaux.
Seduced by the wine and his fascinating world, rich of history, tradition and innovation, starts right away to organise Wine tastings in the best restaurants of South Tyrol, in Italy. Those Rendezvous begin to quickly stand out in the Food&Wine panorama.
Soon after, founds in the 1992 with two friends GourmetClub Alto Adige and inaugurates the first edition of the Merano WineFestival.
Called to participate to various Mediterranean Diet International Conventions, to organise tasting panels and manage Food&Wine Events, starts to contribute to international magazines, such as Der Feinschmecker, Decanter and Fine Wine Encounter.
He is an active member of prestigious associations, including the FIC – Fondazione Italiana Cuochi, and is Chevalier de l’Ordre des Coteaux de Champagne.
In the 1999 he published 4 volumes, in italian and germanr: Grappa, vinegar, oil, Cheese.
With a mind full of new ideas and projects, founds and manages the European Gourmet Academy, which traines the new professionals of the Food&Wine industry.
In the 2013 announces the Merano and Culinaria Award (which starting from the 2017 is called the WineHunter Award), the big Food&Wine contest that every year collects more than 5.000 products of the best gastronomic tradition.
